- Damn it feels good to be a gangster –
“I’d say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual work.”
Oh how do I wish it were true, or not… but at the moment, yeah.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to live in our dreams? Too bad there is always someone around to come and make you face reality.

Almost Home
He had plastic bags wrapped round his shoes
He was covered with the evening news
Had a pair of old wool socks on his hands
The bank sign was flashing “5 below
It was freezing rain an spittin’ snow
He was curled up behind some garbage cans
I was afraid that he was dead
I gave him a gentle shake
When he opened up his eyes
I said,”Old man are you ok?”
He said,”I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree”
I was runin’ from some honey bees
Drip dryin’ in the summer breeze
After jumpin’ into Calico creek
I was walkin’ down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you’d just left me alone
‘Cause I was almost home
Then he said,”I was comin’ round the barn”
Bout the time he grabbed my arm
When I heard Momma holler son hurry up
I was close enough for my own nose
To smell fresh cobbler on the stove
When I saw daddy loadin’ up the truck
Game poles on the tailgate
Barbers blowin’ in the wind
Since July of ’55
That’s as close as I’ve been
He said,”I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree”
I was runin’ from some honey bees
Drip dryin’ in the summer breeze
After jumpin’ into Calico creek
I was walkin’ down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you’d just left me alone
‘Cause I was almost home
I said,”old man you’re gonna freeze to death”
Let me drive you to a mission
He said,”Boy if you left me alone
Right now I’d be fishin’
He said,”I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree”
I was runin’ from some honey bees
Drip dryin’ in the summer breeze
After jumpin’ into Calico creek
I was walkin’ down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you’d just left me alone
‘Cause I was almost home
Man I wish you’d just left me alone
I was almost home

Can a day at work be crazy without being terribly busy? That’s what it felt like today at work. But eventually, the day somehow ended, which I was very thankful for. Went to the Wolves game with Nate, Marc and Mills. It was awesome to be back at the TC for the home opener. We won, and our new players looked pretty good, so I am excited for the new season. Unfortunately, Mills car died in the parking lot when we tried to go home. Luckily Marc was still nearby so we convinced him to come and give us a jump. But of course the jump didn’t work out, so we had to have it towed. Not fun, but gave us some more time to just chill (literally, it was REALLY cold out). Made it home eventually though, won’t get much sleep tonight. I think I’ll go in an hour later to work, thankfully it is my last day this week, I get to pack all day on Friday… fun right? Prolly not. Oh well.

Cutshy came over last night and brought “The Legend of Bagger Vance” with him. I had heard some good things about this movie from Marcusly and also from a sermon in church. Overall I think it was pretty good, except for the fact that I could never really buy into the whole -golf as a metaphor for life- idea… which was kind of the whole premise in the first place. Nevertheless, it was still alright, although the sidekick kid was to cutesy for his own good and made you want to run to the bathroom and hurl every now and then.
Tomorrow should be a fun day though, aside from work, which is never really “fun” but sometimes busy enough where I don’t realize it. It is the Wolves season opener and I somehow convinced a couple people to go with me. (It’s amazing what a little arm twisting can do!) Should be a good time, I mean, we get free T-Shirts!
Not that anyone cares, but here is what I am currently reading, and what I plan to read sometime soon…
For Whom the Bell Toles – Ernest Hemmingway
The Killer Angels – Michael Shaara
Peter the Great – Robert K. Massie

This is my makeshift weblog entry. I’m not really quite sure how often I will enter something here. I guess for now since I don’t have much time, I will just list some song lyrics that I currently think are pretty cool. I guess this song just really makes me think how much little things can have an effect on us, both positively and negatively. I just find it amazing that a single word or comment can either make your day or ruin your week… if you let it that is.

Rest In Pieces
Look at me, my depth perception must be off again
Cause this hurts deeper than I thought it did
It has not healed with time
It just shot down my spine _ You look so beautiful tonight
Remind me how you laid us down
And gently smiled before you destroyed my life
Would you find it in your heart
To make this go away
And let me rest in pieces
Would you find it in your heart?
To make this go away
And let me rest in pieces
Would you find it in your heart?
To make it go away
And let me rest in pieces
Look at me, my depth perception must be off again
You got much closer than I thought you did
I’m in your reach
You held me in your hands
But could you find it in your heart?
To make this go away
And let me rest in pieces
Would you find it in your heart?
To make it go away
And let me rest in pieces
